This depends on the products used. If it is just a skimmed finish coat over either an existing solid background or plasterboard allow a minimum of 3 – 4 days. If the walls have been solid plastered prior to the finish coat being applied it can vary from a week to a month before it is safe to apply paint, however if lime has been used and lime putty to finish you are advised to avoid painting for up to 6 months as the putty needs to cure fully. As a general rule of thumb we say 1 month for every 5mm of plaster depth applied which again varies on the plumb of the brickwork it is covering as some spots will be thicker than others in order to make the finished wall flat and level.
We advise giving the walls and ceiling a mist coat first. This can be cheap white emulsion which has been watered down to a ratio of 70% paint to 30% tap water. Once that coat is applied you can apply your final colour.
Yes, we understand that albeit a very small job to us, it isn’t something everybody has the skill or the confidence to tackle on their own, so we will fit the smaller jobs around our daily workload.
We try to keep odd days in a month free for emergency work, however this isn’t always possible as we can often find the diary full for up to 6 weeks ahead or more during busy times. We will always endeavour to work with you though and if needs be we offer a weekend service wherever possible, Sunday’s included.
